Few young adults seek help at a treatment center for depression.. We want to help change that. Research has found that young adults—specifically millennials and Gen Z—have experienced a dramatic rise in psychological distress and depressive symptoms, but few seek out residential care at a treatment center for depression. Research also suggests that for older adults, psychotherapy is just as likely to be an effective first treatment for depression as taking an antidepressant. Some older adults prefer to get counseling or psychotherapy for depression rather than add more medications to those they are already taking for other conditions.
